UPPER PLENTY HALL (THE SHACK) NEWS
There is some funding available (through UPCAG) if anyone would like to organise a party/event for their street (bushfire funding with an expiry date). Contact us if you are interested. Don & Maxine Watson have been doing this for Clarkes Rd. residents for the last four years and their annual events are really valued as a chance to catch up and/or meet with neighbours. These events are particularly helpful for new residents to meet with neighbours, so, don’t be shy – not everyone will come but it’s well worth giving it a go. It won’t cost you anything but time.
We have just picked up another ten interpretive signs for our indigenous food and medicine trail which is part of our creek re-vegetation project. We hope to have these installed, with accompanying plants, over the next couple of months. After a very difficult summer we will be anxiously waiting to see what plants reappear after our recent rains.
Don’t forget you can earn credits toward hiring the hall at reduced cost( or for free!) by donating an hour or two of your time occasionally. At the moment we are keen to get some volunteer help with weeding / planting. We are also keen to get some IT assistance for the local history project. This would involve digital arrangement of text, photos, maps, etc. which would eventually printed in poster format for display.
